elissa Rivers is not the kind of person who pretends that anything is easy, from her job as an on-camera host for E! Entertainment Television, to staying thin (nothing heavier than angel-hair pasta), to finding a husband.
The daughter of Joan Rivers, Ms.
Rivers, 29, has the same raspy voice as her mother and presents herself in a similar way, as a sarcastic, straight-talking underdog.

A horse trainer and the owner of Apollo Farms in Calabasas, Calif.,Endicott, 32, travels the world buying and selling show horses.

One night during the horse show, Ms. Rivers and Endicott went out to dinner. By the end of the evening, Ms. Rivers thought she might have finally found someone totally different from the men she had previously dated.
"He was so sweet, so unaffected," she said.
"It wasn't like, 'I'm an electrician, but really what I want to do is write a screenplay.' You can't get away from that in L.A."
The two fell quickly in love. "About four or five months after we met, he decided to move up to L.A.," Ms. Rivers said. "And the next thing we knew, we were living together.

Endicott, who looks like the actor Emilio Estevez, with eyes as blue as little swimming pools, flew to New York several months ago to ask Joan Rivers for permission to marry her daughter. He recalled that she paused between bites of her low-fat salad and said, "What took you so long?"
Last Thursday, Joan Rivers gave a small pre-wedding luncheon at Doubles in the Sherry-Netherland Hotel, the club that has the ambiance of a Christmas ornament -- everything is bright red.
As she spoke about her only daughter's wedding, the mother of the bride alternated between tears, jokes and parental advice. "I told Melissa, 'It's the two of you against the world,' " she said. " 'You trust no one but each other.' My other advice is, 'Treat the in-laws like your best clients.' That's the way you get through life with in-laws."
In another moment, Ms.
Rivers said, pulling out a tissue and a breath mint: "I wanted so much for Melissa to settle down, to find an anchor. Family is everything.
Everything. It's a rough, rough world out there, and you need your own little army."
While planning the Dec. 12 wedding, Joan Rivers hired Preston Bailey, a New York floral designer, to create a winter garden from "Dr. Zhivago" inside the Plaza Hotel, with a hundred tall white-painted trees and 30, white flowers.
"This wedding is going to be romantic," she said on the day of the luncheon. "I want it to be a fairy tale.
