Kratika Sengar Dheer (born 3 July ) known professionally as Kratika Sengar, is an Indian actress who primarily works in Hindi television.

Sengar is widely recognised for her portrayal of Rani Lakshmibai in Ek Veer Stree Ki Kahaani – Jhansi Ki Rani and dual portrayal of Tanushree Khurana Bedi / Tanuja Sikand Bedi in Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki.

Sengar made her acting debut with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, where she portrayed Sanchi and Sugandhi Virani. Her first major role came with her portrayal of Prerana Gill Garewal in Kasautii Zindagii Kay.

Sengar earned further success while portraying Aarti Goyal Scindia in Punar Vivaah – Zindagi Milegi Dobara and Payal Prasad in Service Wali Bahu.

Sengar is married to actor Nikitin Dheer with whom she has a daughter.

Early life

Sengar was born on 4 July in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh into a Hindu family.[3][4] She did her schooling from Methodist High School, Kanpur and completed her graduation in Mass Communication from Amity University, Noida.[5][6]

Career

Early work and breakthrough (–)

Sengar made her screen debut in with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, where she portrayed Sanchi.

Later in , she portrayed a different character, Sugandhi Virani in the series.[7][8] From to , she portrayed Prerna Gill Garewal opposite Naman Shaw in Kasautii Zindagii Kay.[9][10] Later in , she portrayed Naina Mann in Kya Dill Mein Hai. In the same year, Sengar participated as a contestant on Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket.[11]

From to , Sengar portrayed the titular role of Rani Lakshmi Bai in Ek Veer Stree Ki Kahaani – Jhansi Ki Rani, opposite Sameer Dharmadhikari.[12] The series proved to be her breakthrough.[13][14] In , she also portrayed Chitra Devasthal, in Aahat.[15]

Career expansion (–)

Sengar's career marked a turning point with Punar Vivaah – Zindagi Milegi Dobara, where she portrayed Aarti Goyal Scindia opposite Gurmeet Choudhary, from to [16][17] Her performance earned her nominations for Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role and Gold Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.[18]

In , Sengar portrayed Manasa in Devon Ke DevMahadev.[19] She then made her film debut with My Father Godfather, portraying Jhanvi Singh opposite Sharad Malhotra.[20] The film was released directly on television.[21]

In , Sengar portrayed Payal Rai Prasad, a working wife in Service Wali Bahu opposite Abhishek Rawat.

The series ended the same year due to low viewership.[22][23]

Sengar established herself among the leading television actresses with Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki, where she played three characters from to opposite Sharad Malhotra.[24][25] Sengar first portrayed Tanushree Khurana Bedi in and was eventually replaced by Shivani Tomar.

Owning to her character's popularity, she returned to portray Tanuja Sikand Bedi, from to [26] In , she portrayed Kritika Kohli.[27] For her performance, Sengar earned two ITA Award for Best Actress – Popular nomination.

Sengar married actor Nikitin Dheer on 3 September in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, in Mumbai.[31][32] Sengar gave birth to their daughter, Devika, on 12 May [33][34]
