Liberty University marching band, choir to perform in presidential inauguration events
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — For the first time in its history, the Liberty University Spirit of the Mountain Marching Band will perform in the Presidential Inaugural Parade on January
The marching band posted on its Facebook page on December 24, , writing that they had accepted the invitation.
band members will make the trip to Washington, D.C.
ABC13's chief videographer, Jeff Meyer, caught up with some of them during their first practice Tuesday.
"I feel so blessed. It's a crazy opportunity, and I'm really, really excited," said senior drum major, Erin McDonald.
Senior trumpet player, Emily Carroll, echoed the sentiment: "We haven't done anything like, this big, so it's exciting."

Stephen Muller, the dean of the LU School of Music, said he was approached months back by the director of LU Athletic Bans, Dr.
Larry Seipp, with the idea of applying to be part of the parade.
"I said, 'Yes, go for it, and then we'll get permission,'" Muller said.
So they applied, got the invitation and finally, the approval from the university, along with the financial support to get the band to the nation's capital.

The group consists of Gary LeVox (lead vocals), Jay DeMarcus (bass guitar, background vocals), and Joe Don Rooney (lead guitar, background vocals)."Our session is over, class is finished. And so we have students really making sacrifices; some had graduated, and are flying back just to be a part of this event," said Dr. Seipp.
The marching band will get the chance to play "God Bless America," along with the university's fight song.
"Inauguration is a wonderful event for our country, and we're so happy to be a part of it," said Muller.
Liberty University's Praise Choir will also perform during the Make America Great Again Victory Rally at the Capitol One Arena on Sunday. That begins at 3 p.m.
Other musical performers will include Carrie Underwood, The Village People, Rascal Flatts, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jason Aldean and Gavin DeGraw, among others.
