The Jackson family patriarch died aged 89 on June 27, his grandson Taj Jackson confirmed on Twitter.

One saw him helping one of his young twin sons dress in a black suit.

A second shot showed Marlon Jackson also dressed in a suit, along with the caption: “There’s a first time for everything.

“Uncle Marlon helping River with his tie.”

He added the hashtags: “#family #ripjoejackson”.

Joeis survived by eight of his children and multiple grandchildren.

Taj previously confirmed his grandfather’s death on Twitter, replying to a tweet from Ebony Magazine who had shared their condolences.

“Thank you EBONYMag,” he wrote.

“We see the love and support and appreciate it.”

He later paid tribute, saying: “Thank you Grandpa for the amazing strength, determination and pride you showed this family.

“The Jackson legacy would not exist without you.

“I lost a grandfather but heaven gained The Hawk.”

Joe revealed his dying wish in his final; interview at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles in March.

Asked what the high point of his life had been, he replied: “All of my family is famous and known everywhere, and they’re known all over the world.

“I want them to keep it up and I hope they will,” he added.

Joe played a formative role in launching the careers of The Jackson 5 as well as Michael and Janet’s solo careers.
