Malavath Purna Biography

Malavath Purna is the youngest female climber in the world to scale Mount Everest. She reached the summit of Everest on 25 May , aged 13 years and 11 months, to become the youngest girl to make this achievement. Purva belongs to Nizamabad, Telangana, born into a poor family and her parents are farm labourers.

She trekked to mountains of Ladakh and Darjeeling, as a part of her preparations to climb Mount Everest.

Malavath Purna was born in the year to a poor family in Pakala village, Sirkonda Mandal, Nizamabad of present-day Telangana.

She belongs to a tribal family and both her parents work in farm and they together earn rupees a month. So sending her and her siblings to school was also a major challenge to her parents.

She was hand-picked by the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Schools, a government organisation where she did her studies. She was sent to a mountaineering institute in Darjeeling for preparation, where she spent 8 months in training.

Seeing her high endurance level, she was selected for the expedition.
